While therapy is strictly confidential, previous clients have kindly chosen to share their personal experiences to help others who might be feeling hesitant or anxious about taking that first step into counselling.
“Thank you for your time and commitment to helping not just me, but the many other people you help too. I knew instantly the first meeting we had that I would be able to trust you to listen and not judge. Things are still tough, but you have a remarkable, professional way to listen without judgment.”
Client DListening Without Judgment
“Simon has the right balance between listening and probing for specific information when needed, or explaining why certain things are challenging or difficult. He has helped me see that certain feelings and fears are based on what happened before (i.e. 'then'), and are not based on what is happening in the present time ('now'). Just because things have been difficult and painful before doesn't mean they have to carry on being that way. Simon is a very gentle soul and is very easy to talk to. Compassion and empathy seem to come easily to him.”
Client EGentle, Empathetic & Grounding
“Although I have experienced counselling before I was still extremely anxious and nervous about my first session with Simon. He was very welcoming and the environment was calm and comfortable, all of which soon put me at ease. Simon seemed to know exactly the right questions to ask which enabled me to open up and talk about the issues that were troubling me. I respect Simon and his professionalism and regard for client confidentiality. My counselling is ongoing and cannot recommend Simon highly enough.”
NOvercoming First-Session Anxiety
“I was in the desperate situation of having to deal with my sexuality on my own, not feeling I could tell anybody and the resulting frustration and depression was unbearable. It was difficult to see how I could ever be myself. I felt that I was excluded by society from the fundamental human right of loving whom I choose. My life was on hold and I didn't see how I could ever be happy.
That all changed...
Simon's help has been truly life changing for me. My progress towards happiness has been amazing. I've gone from feeling helpless and desperately alone to a wonderful situation now where I have been able to tell people about myself and feel happy about my future. I didn't ever think this was going to happen. I am so very grateful to Simon. His understanding of my situation and his considerable and considerate counselling skills have certainly worked for me.”

Therapeutic Reflections
Occasional thoughts on self-care, emotional wellbeing, and personal resilience
Winter months and seasonal transitions can often trigger unexpected stress, loneliness, and feelings of inadequacy. The pressure to ‘perform happiness’ and follow prescribed family expectations can be exhausting. It is vital to pause, take stock of your personal boundaries, and give yourself permission to do only as much as feels comfortable and nourishing for your wellbeing.

When family, work, and caregiving demands multiply, it is very common to put your own needs last. Taking a breather, reflecting on what you need to stay grounded, and reaching out for support isn’t selfish—it is an essential act of resilience.
